NEXTGENCAT Prototypes
In the framework of the European R&D Collaborative Project NEXTGENCAT, two nano-structured full-scale automotive catalytic converters prototypes have been manufactured:
a) A low noble-metals prototype incorporating as catalytic washcoat a Copper doped Cerium/Zerconium Oxide
b) A noble-metals free prototype incorporating as catalytic washcoat a Copper doped Cerium/Zerconium Oxide
The prototypes will be tested in real life driving conditions against ageing and emission criteria. For this reason, they will be fitted in a passenger car of the type: Ford Focus, 1.4, 2001-2004.
The prototypes will be certified against:
a) Ageing conditions (simulating 80.000Km of real life driving conditions)
b) European Directive R-103 in order to be homologated as parts of equivalent quality with the genuine ones for Euro III/IV emission standards
